  ROHAN CLARKE

Song: By Faith

A singer by profession, Rohan Clarke attends the Mount Zion Sanctuary Assemblies of Jamaica in St. Ann. Clarke entered the competition in 2004, and is back this year because he believes in faith and is determined to keep trying until he reaches victory. His entry song “By Faith” is testimony to his belief in the philosophy “Never Quitting” and he said that it is faith that guides his daily walk with God. He has performed on many stages both locally and internationally.

  KEREEN GREGORY

Song: God Is

TEXT “2” to 444 -2482

Kereen attends the Portmore City Mission Church and is an inventory manager by profession. She has been singing with a group for the past 8 years; however her first major on stage experience was in 2007. She entered the competition in 2000, 2003 and 2004; however this is her first time being a finalist. Gregory said that the inspiration for her entry this year came at a time when everything was going wrong in her life and she was battling many demons, but she is determined to make a positive recovery through her music. She believes that there is a shining light at the end of every dark tunnel.

  SUSHANNE HOLMES

Song: This Is Your Child

Hailing from Manchester, Sushann has been singing gospel music in church from a tender age. Having being a finalist in the 2007 competition, she believes that she gained a lot of experience and is ready to take on the challenge once again. She has performed both secular and gospel music at various venues throughout the central region of Jamaica. She attends the Faith Assemble Ministries Church in Mandeville where she often performs. Sushann said she entered the competition this year because she has a desire to proclaim God’s word and that music is her life.

  Girvan A. Moore

Song: Jamaica Needs To Change

Text "4" to 444-2482

Born in St. Thomas, Girvan got his experience singing at local concerts and at church. Having entered the competition in 2005, he feels that inexperience did not allow him to achieve as much as he would have wanted. Desirous of breaking into the gospel industry as an artiste, he feels he can reach anywhere he desires with the help of Christ. Girvan said that he is concerned about the level of crime and violence in society and is determined to make a change through music.

  DAMION BELL (MINISTER TREASURE)

Song: Let Us Pray

TEXT “5” to 444-2482

This gospel DJ, Damion Bell by name, comes from August Town, where he attends the Greater Works International Fellowship Church. Damion said he wants to win over souls both locally and internationally for Christ and that he is guided by his personal conviction of staying strong physically and close to God. He began his Christian walk in 2007 and plans to develop it through his gospel music ministry. Damion believes that his song is a good selection based on what is happening in Jamaica and all over the world right now.

  GAMEL GRANT

Song: Remember Heaven

Gamel’s said his entry “Remember Heaven” was inspired by a joy which flows through him each time he thinks of Christ. He felt he was led to perform gospel music though a special calling by God and has entered the competition to fulfill his desire to minister his word. A Visual Arts teacher by profession, he began singing at church and at local concerts. He believes that the most important things in life are Godliness, Obedience and Goodness.

  TARSHEA WILLIAMS

Song: Satan, You Lose Again

Tarshea Williams got her start in music singing in church, she currently is the praise and worship leader at the Compassionate Christian Ministries Church, where she attends. A member of the group The Giddalations, she has performed at a number of events in her community and local shows. Tarshea stated that her philosophy “Live and Let Live” inspires her daily life and music and she is passionate about worshiping God and wants to further glorify him though her participation in the competition. She believes that she can do all things through Christ, who strengthens her.

  OVANDO LEVY

Song: I Know A Friend

TEXT “8” to 444 -2482

A student and musician by occupation, Ovando or “The Levy’s Heritage” as he fondly refers to himself, is the son of 2004 Jamaica Gospel winner Lubert Levy. He has performed on several major gospel shows including the Maja Awards, Genesis and Fun in the Song. Ovando has also entered the Tastee Talent Competition three times. Through this competition he wishes to continue proclaiming the word of God he further stated that he is inspired by his family’s involvement in gospel ministry. He is led by the philosophy “To know Christ and to make him known”.

  ANDREW DIXON

Song: God Is My Refuge

Singer, Musician and Song Writer, Andrew Dixon is the lead singer and voice trainer for the choir at the Cuffie Ridge Shiloh Apostolic Church, where he attends. He currently plays at churches, concerts and other functions, from which he has garnered a wealth of stage experience. Guided by the philosophy “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, Andrew believes he has what it takes to be successful in whatever he attempts. For Dixon, Gospel music is his passion and he is on a mission to tell of the love of God through music. He hopes to use music as a forum for changing the world through ministry. Andrew entered the Jamaica Gospel Song Competition in 2006.

  DENEESE WRIGHT

Song: No Condemnation

TEXT “10” to 444 -2482

A fashion designer by profession, Deneese has performed at weddings, funerals and several churches across the island. She got the inspiration to enter the competition, when she was encouraged by her sister to take her singing to the next level. Wright grew up singing in church and while growing up j(in a Christian home) she believes gospel music has been planted in her since before birth. Through the competition this year, she hopes to help reverse some of the negativities that has crippled the nation and to encourage people to get over their limitations. She believes that it is about time that people start believing in themselves and trusting God to help in accomplishing anything.
