Hon. Arnold Bertram, Minister of Local Government and Community Development, officially launched Festival 2001 on May 10 at the Louise Bennett Garden Theatre. He made a promise to the audience that “festival this year is going to be bigger and better quantitatively and qualitatively.”

JCDC’s 2001 Programmes

Marcia Hextall, Executive Director of the JCDC told guests at a Special Sponsor’s Forum held recently at the Orchid Room, Devon House that she was intent on bringing back Festival to its glory days, while at the same time being very innovative. Miss Hextall encouraged wider participation and declared, “this Millennium Festival will reflect a nation that has grown in perfection and excellence.”

The occasion was held to sensitize sponsors and the media of JCDC’s Festival 2001 programmes.
