Form And Structure


Entry Forms
Entry forms are obtainable at all JCDC' Regional and Parish offices islandwide.

Workshops
To ensure an acceptable quality above average standard in the entries, the individuals entering the Competition are invited to attend workshops organized for the four regions, namely; Eastern, Western, Northern and Central. These workshops are structured to last for 3-4 hours.

The areas covered are:
 

Gospel Music in Perspective
Contemporary Gospel
Music Styles (modern & traditional)
Review of Entries

Professionals from the music industry, some of whom are members of our National Adjudicating Team, are invited as resource persons.

These workshops are geared to facilitate growth and development by increasing the entrants' awareness of the music forms available to them for the Competition.


Eliminations
This is also done on a regional basis. Entries are received from all parishes in the four (4) regions. A panel of three (3) adjudicators from the National Panel will select contestants from each of the elimination rounds totalling twelve (12) finalists.

At this stage individuals give live performances and are judged in the areas of:


a) Composition
  1. Lyrics  (35 points)
  2. Arrangement (30 points)
  3. Melody (15 points)

b) Presentation  (20 points)


Semi-Finals
At this stage the twelve (12) top performers will move to the next round which is the National Finals. The finalist will share the stage with recognized local artistes.
