POPULAR SONG COMPETITION ENTRIES OPEN

Producers and artistes who believe they have a song which reflects the sounds of time now have the opportunity to win a million dollars cash by entering the Jamaica Popular Song Competition 2005.

Entries are now officially opened and persons are encouraged to submit their entries before the closing date February 11, 2005.

This year’s competition promises to be even better as the organizers the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission seeks to improve the quality of the competition. The thirty seven year old competition will continue its second year of a development initiative aimed at redefining the product to being ‘the Premier Song Competition’ in Jamaica.

The Competition has widened its scope to focus not only on a song for celebrating the independence period of a particular year to being a vehicle by which artistes can receive promotion including the production and airing of music videos.

Major changes are being made to widen the genre of Jamaican music entered, encourage investment and motivation from the writers, producers and artistes, while providing renewed participation and excitement from the public.

The prize package this year includes a cash prize of $1million dollars for the first place winner, other cash prizes for the second and third place winners, airline tickets and recording equipment.

Entry forms are available at all JCDC offices Islandwide.
